The project will eliminate the railroad crossing at Norfolk Southern’s Crossing 478051H and rebuild approximately 2,500 feet of Airport Expresswy between Airport Drive and east of the Harber Drain bridge. The new overpass will be constructed and replace the existing rail crossing with a single-span concrete bridge. This project will reduce vehicle emissions and reduce traffic delays from the 15 daily trains. The improvements also support major economic and community assets. They will support long-term sustainability, strengthen the national STRACNET rail defense corridor, and enhance quality of life for nearby neighborhoods and travelers.
