$50K in scholarships aims to bring hands-on science education to more Detroit students
A $50,000 scholarship program is helping bring hands-on science education to Detroit students through field trips and classroom activities. The Huron-Clinton Metroparks is accepting applications for its Get Out and Learn (GOAL) Scholarships for the 2026-27 school year. The scholarships will help eligible schools cover the costs of science-related field trips and educational programs directly into classrooms. The program is already reaching students across Detroit, with $8,200 in scholarship funding going to schools in the city. The scholarship program is part of a larger effort by Metropark to expand access to environmental and science education throughout Southeast Michigan. Schools must demonstrate at least 50% of their students are economically disadvantaged to qualify for the scholarships.
