Liftoff, finally: Boeing Starliner launches first crew to space station
Boeing on Wednesday launched its very first astronauts bound for the International Space Station aboard a Starliner capsule, which joins a select club of spacecraft to carry humans beyond Earth. William Smith, the former CFO of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, has been charged with embezzling millions of dollars from the group. Smith was recently fired and used the money for travel, hotels, limousines, household goods, clothing and jewelry. The fraud was described by U.S. Attorney Dawn Ison as "astonishing" and "astonished". Smith's attorney did not respond to a request for comment.
