Lance Lynn (3-5, 6.28) is scheduled to start for the White Sox against rookie left-hander Joey Wentz (1-4, 7.45). Both will be pitching on five days of rest.

Lynn has won his last two starts after beginning the season 1-5, including beating the Kansas City Royals on Sunday in Chicago. He pitched six innings and gave up two runs, four hits and two walks while striking out six.

Lynn is 7-3 against the Tigers in his career with a 3.39 ERA in 11 starts.

In five starts on the road this season, Lynn has a 1-2 record and a 6.35 ERA. He is 2-3 with a 5.40 ERA in seven outings at night. Lynn has three quality starts in 10 turns and the White Sox are 3-7 when he pitches.

Wentz was hammered in his last start Sunday, allowing six runs and 10 hits in just two innings in a road loss to the Washington Nationals. He struck out one and walked none.

This will be Wentz’s first career start versus the White Sox.

Wentz is winless in five starts at Comerica Park this season, going 0-1 with a 6.65 ERA. At night, he is 1-1 with a 4.29 ERA. Wentz has yet to record a quality start in nine tries but the Tigers are 4-5 when he toes the slab.

No players on the White Sox’s active roster have ever faced Wentz. Tigers left fielder Akil Baddoo is 4 for 8 against Lynn but designated hitter Miguel Cabrera is 3 for 19 (.158) with two doubles and 10 strikeouts.

Baddoo homer and was one of three Tigers with two hits in Thursday night’s win over the White Sox.

Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson also had two hits. Javy Baez drove in two runs.

White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. returned to the lineup after missing one game with quadriceps soreness and went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts. Second baseman Hanser Alberto did not start for a fourth straight game because of left shoulder soreness but was available off the bench.

While the Tigers won the teams’ first meeting of the season Thursday, the White Sox have a commanding 45-22 advantage in the series since 2019.

Lynn seems to be back on track after a rough start to the season. Let’s back him against the struggling Wentz.
