GM will switch to Nasdaq from the NYSE on Nov. 17
GM expects to keep its “GM” ticker symbol, and the company says shareholders do not need to take action because of the transfer. General Motors (GM) plans to transfer shares of its common stock from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to the Nasdaq in order to become a more technology-focused company. The move is significant for the NYSE, as GM first listed on the exchange in 1911 and relisted in 2010 following a government-backed bankruptcy. The company expects to begin trading as a Nasdaq-listed company on Nov. 17 and its ticker symbol will remain "GM". Current shareholders do not need to take action regarding the transfer. The change will provide eligibility for potential inclusion in the NasDAQ-100 Index.
