The Grande Ballroom in Detroit, where rock legends such as Led Zeppelin and the MC5 played, has been slowly falling apart since the early 1960s. The ballroom was transformed into a major venue by Detroit radio personality Russ Gibb, who opened it up as a psychedelic rock venue. The building quickly became home to Detroit rock acts like the MCFive, the Stooges, SRC, the Frost, and the Rationals. After the music stopped, the building deteriorated, causing water damage, plaster damage, and vandals stripped parts of the interior. In 2018, the Grande was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but its future remains uncertain.
