Detroit to go MAGA this week with Trump visits, boat parade
Trump's latest addition to his weekend trip to Detroit: A roundtable discussion at a Detroit church. Donald Trump, former president and 2024 Republican candidate for the presidency, is set to visit a Detroit church on June 15 and participate in a roundtable discussion with constituents. This will coincide with his participation in The People’s Convention at Huntington Place, a conference center in downtown Detroit, which will include high-profile conservative political figures tied to Trump's "Make America Great Again" movement. The event is scheduled 25 days after the venue hosted an event featuring President Joe Biden. The Michigan Conservative Coalition-organized Michigan MAGA Boat Parade will carry Trump supporters along the coast of Detroit in part as a belated recognition of his birthday.

DETROIT, MI — Donald Trump will add a visit to a Detroit church to his weekend agenda in Michigan, officials said.
The former president and 2024 Republican candidate for the office will speak with constituents as part of a roundtable discussion at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at 180 Church, 13660 Stansbury Ave.
Doors open at 1 p.m., Trump campaign officials said.
Trump’s visit there will coincide with his earlier-announced planned participation in The People’s Convention at Huntington Place, a conference center in downtown Detroit, from Friday to Sunday, June 14-16.
That event will include a lineup of high-profile conservative political figures tied to Trump’s brand of Republican politics, also known as the “Make America Great Again” movement, or MAGA.
Organizers have not provided a schedule indicating when Trump plans to appear at the conference.
Detroit — and Michigan, in general, for that matter — has developed into a high-demand stop recently for presidential candidates.
The People’s Convention is scheduled 25 days after its venue — Huntington Place — hosted an event featuring Trump’s election competition, President Joe Biden. The Democrat was the keynote speaker May 20 during the Detroit branch of the NAACP’s 69th Annual Fight for Freedom Fund dinner.
Trump’s visit this weekend also will align with a celebration of his birthday, although it’s unclear if he will be in Detroit on Friday, when he turns 78.
However, his Saturday visit aligns with The Michigan Conservative Coalition-organized Michigan MAGA Boat Parade. Organizers plan to assemble a fleet of vessels to carry Trump supporters along the coast of Detroit, in part as a belated recognition of his birthday.
The same group organized a boat parade to celebrate his birthday in 2020, when Trump last campaigned for a second term in the White House.
Trump last visited Michigan during a May 1 campaign stop at an airport hangar in Tittabawassee Township, a community in Saginaw County.
Biden visited the same community in March.
