NICU babies at Henry Ford Hospital celebrate first Halloween with hand-knit costumes
Dozens of Henry Ford Hospital’s tiniest patients are celebrating their Halloween in style Henry Ford Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurses dressed their babies in hand-knit costumes for their first Halloween. The tradition is an annual tradition for families celebrating their babies' first Halloween at the hospital. Volunteers such as Valerie Atkinson have been instrumental in this project for the past 9 years. This year, knitters from the Monroe yarn shop Knit-Picky & Hooked and the Monroe Center for Healthy Aging helped Atkinson complete the project. The cost of the yarn was covered by generous donations. Each family keeps their handmade costume as a memory of their baby's first Halloween and can be viewed on News 10 Lansing.
