MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – Police have confirmed the two people found dead in a burning Madison Heights house Wednesday, March 27, actually died in a murder-suicide.

It happened at a home near Harwood Avenue and John R Road, just south of Madison Heights’ business district. Police said the fire was intentionally set.

According to authorities, fire crews responded to the home at about 9:30 a.m. and found the bodies of 40-year-old Christopher Spicer and 42-year-old Candace Hawking inside. Police said an autopsy revealed Spicer had stabbed Hawking to death killing himself.

Police said the two had previously been in a relationship.
