Oct. 27: Public meeting planned for Airport Expressway Improvements Project
FORT WAYNE — The city of Fort Wayne invites residents to attend a public meeting for an overview of the Airport Expressway Grade Separation Improvements Project. The city of Fort Wayne is planning a public meeting for an overview of the Airport Expressway Grade Separation Improvements Project. The project will eliminate the railroad crossing at Norfolk Southern’s Crossing 478051H and rebuild approximately 2,500 feet of Airport Express Highway between Airport Drive and east of the Harber Drain bridge. The removal of the at-grade crossing will improve safety, reduce traffic delays, and support growing travel demand in the area. The improvements also support major economic and community assets such as the Amazon inbound cross‑dock facility, BAE Systems, Fort Wayne Metals, WaterFurnace, Coca‑Cola, and the site of a new IU Health Fort Wayne Hospital opening in 2027.
